Origin:
North & Central America. Has been introduced to other countries. Most specimens offered for sale today are captive-bred.
Diet:
Feeding Swordtails is a breeze as they readily accept a varied diet, enjoying flakes, pellets, and even live or frozen foods like bloodworms or brine shrimp. Keeping them in a well-maintained tank with stable water conditions (pH 7.0-8.4, temperature 72-82°F) ensures their health and vitality.
Tank Mates:
Known for their peaceful temperament, Swordtails thrive in community tanks and get along well with other peaceful species like mollies, platies, and tetras.
Behavioural Traits:
They prefer some space and might display mild aggression towards their own species, especially males, so having multiple females to one male can help diffuse any tension.
