Origin:

Native to the fast-flowing rivers of Venezuela, particularly in the Orinoco River basin, the Blue Phantom Pleco thrives in environments with plenty of hiding spots and strong water flow.

Habitat: 

In the wild, these fish live amongst rocky substrates in flowing rivers and therefore require decent current and a good level of oxygenation within the aquarium. Provide plenty of rockwork and create numerous shady caves for the fish to hide amongst. Try to ensure that the strongest areas of current flow through these hiding places. Bogwood is not strictly necessary, although it may make the tank look more aesthetically pleasing. A powerful filtration system is recommended as these fish produce a lot of waste. 

Diet:

Primarily herbivorous, the L128 requires a diet rich in vegetable-based foods. Algae wafers, blanched vegetables, and sinking pellets should form the basis of their diet, supplemented with occasional protein sources like brine shrimp or bloodworms to ensure optimal health.

Tank Mates:

Ideal tank mates include small to medium-sized, peaceful fish. Avoid overly aggressive species that may stress or harm the pleco. Compatible companions include tetras, rasboras, and dwarf cichlids. Its gentle nature makes it a perfect community tank member.

Behavioural Traits:

The L128 Blue Phantom Pleco is notably peaceful and solitary. It may show territorial behavior towards other bottom dwellers, especially of its own kind, so provide ample space and hiding spots if housing multiple plecos.
