Superfish Hollow Bio Beads is a biological filter medium with a unique and innovative design: a porous hollow bead with a biological cavity inside.

This provides a double action filtration: 1) Optimal aerobic filtration through the porous bead with a specific surface area over 500m² per litre. The high oxygen content in the filter media ensures optimal nitrification resulting in detoxification off ammonia and nitrite. 2) The biological cavity inside the bead has a low accessibility for water and oxygen, allowing anaerobic denitrification (breakdown of nitrate).
