Malawi Gar - Lichnochromis Acuticeps

The Malawi gar (Lichnochromis acuticeps) is a species of predatory cichlid endemic to Lake Malawi. This species can reach a length of 30 centimetres. 

Temperament: Mildly Aggressive

Origin:

Africa: Endemic to Lake Malawi. Known from the type specimen and one record from Nkhata Bay.

Diet:

Malawi Gar are carnivores. Feed little and often to avoid polluting the water. 

Water Parameters:

The malawi gar is a species which lives naturally at a temperature between 23 °C and 28 °C. For proper maintenance, the temperature should never exceed the 31°C for long periods. Nitrate levels should remain below 50mg/L. To keep the water clean and unpolluted, plan on changing 20% to 30% of the water volume each month.
